Gery L. Deer

Gery L. Deer is the founder of and Educational Advisor of the SAWA. He has been working with whips for over 20 years, and has been professionally performing and teaching the whip arts since 1991. He is also the pending Guinness World Record holder for most number of targets cut with a bullwhip in 60 seconds.

Gery is a member of the World Stunt Association, and is the advisor to that organization for the whip arts.

Gery is also the producer of the Annie Oakley Western Arts Showcase held at the Annie Oakley Days festival held in Greenville, Ohio the third weekend in July.

Gery resides in Jamestown, Ohio with his wife, and performing partner, Barbara "Scout" Deer.

Kirk Bass

Kirk Bass is a founding member, and Chairman of the Board of the SAWA.

Kirk has been working with Gery as an instructor at the GLD Enterprises Whip Artistry Studio for many years, and is currently the only other SAWA certified instruction in the whip arts.

Kirk is also a certified instructor in the International Knife Throwers Hall of Fame Association, and hosts the knife-throwing competition at the WWAC Ohio Regional Convention at Annie Oakley Days in Greenville, Ohio.

Kirk resides in Xenia, Ohio with his wife Melodee and their two, (soon to be three,) children.

Chris Camp

Chris "the Whip Guy" Camp is an accomplished performer, award winning whip cracker, and instructor. He has made numerous appearances on local and national network television, and is the previous world record holder for the most whip cracks in sixty seconds, (his record was 222.)

His style, rhythm, precision, energy, and great sense of humor is second to none, and he is one of the "idea people" behind the SAWA.

Chris performs full time with his wife Laura, and their 3 children.

Alex Green

Hollywood Stuntman and SAWA Instructor Emeritus, Alex Green has been dazzling audiences on stage, screen, and from behind the scenes with his whip skills for over 40 years.

Some of his noted students have been Antonio Banderas, (Mask of Zorro,) Sir Anthony Hopkins, (Mask of Zorro, for which he was also Sir Anthony's stunt double,) Halle Barry, (Catwoman,) and fellow stuntman, Jackie Chan, (Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights.)

Alex got many whip performers today started in the art with his "Whip Cracking Made Easy" videos with Mark Allen.

Today as Performer and Instructor Emeritus in the Society of American Whip Artistry, Alex continues to provide encouragement and support of this great skill.
