This organization is hereby dedicated to the memory of musician, historian, commedian, and consumate whip artist, Brian Chic.

The SAWA is a for-profit, family-friendly organization that was founded in 2005 by a group of whip artists, competitors, and makers as a means to actively promote the whip arts, provide professional credentials for working whip performers, dispell popularly existing myths about whips, and provide a forum for whip professionals to exchange ideas.
